Burscough to Parbold Walk For Water
In February, a team from St John’s Burscough, alongside friends from local churches, will be travelling to Uganda to support the work of International Needs.
During the visit, the team will spend time in local schools, teaching, leading assemblies and visiting some of the nearly 150 children currently supported through our sponsorship programme. They will also be getting hands-on with one of the most vital projects in the community: the WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) programme.

Over the years, this work has helped provide five new wells in local villages. Just as importantly, it has supported families and schools with education around hygiene and sanitation, ensuring that access to clean water leads to lasting change.

For many children in Uganda, access to water is still a daily challenge. Some walk miles each day to collect water for their families (time that could otherwise be spent in school, playing or resting).
To help raise the remaining funds needed for the project, the team will be taking part in a sponsored Walk for Water before travelling. They plan to walk from Burscough to Parbold along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, carrying 10 litres of water where possible, as a small way of experiencing the physical demands many children face every day.
Together we are taking a stand for communities who deserve better access to clean, safe water.
By supporting this fundraiser, you will be helping families to have clean water, and improved sanitation and hygiene practices, so thank you for any donation – big or small!

Your gift will ripple out to change lives in Uganda.
