RUSH Academy in Kakamega

RUSH Academy in Kakamega

RUSH Academy is one of the projects run by our new partners RUSH Kenya who are based in Kakamega, Western Kenya. As of May 2018, we are supporting this work through International Needs Kenya. RUSH Kenya was founded and is managed by Andrew and Lucy Amukowa.

RUSH Academy was set up by Andrew and Lucy to provide education to local children and give them the tools to break out of the cycle of poverty.

Since 2002, the academy has grown from just a kindergarten to a kindergarten, primary and secondary school! Children from the first kindergarten class are now in their second year of university.  RUSH Academy takes on children from the age of two and a half until the end of secondary school. The academy is currently attended by over 450 students, over 200 of whom board.

Could you sponsor a child to attend RUSH Academy?

Many pupils at RUSH are able to attend the academy with the support of sponsors based in the UK. Sponsorship provides school fees which help fund the school, access to medical care, nutritious meals and school materials including a uniform.

As of July 2018, we have sponsors for 21 children attending RUSH. We are actively looking for 30 more sponsors in 2018 for the many needy children in Kakamega. If you wish to sponsor a child or to find out more about sponsorship please click here.
